Baseball Announces 2017 Schedule

Tucson, Ariz. – Head coach Jay Johnson and the 2016 National Runner-Up Arizona Wildcats have announced their tentative 2017 schedule.
The slate includes seven NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago, two College World Series teams and six non-conference opponents who finished in the top 70 of the RPI last season.
All total, Arizona will play 31 games at Hi Corbett Field and make non-conference road trips to Texas Tech, Cal State Fullerton, Santa Clara and College of Charleston, along with a three-game tournament in Frisco, Texas versus Arkansas, Oklahoma State and Nebraska. Times and dates for conference games could change once the conference's television partners announce their selections.
"We are excited for our 2017 schedule," Johnson said. "Along with playing in the top conference in college baseball, we have a great nonconference schedule with multiple teams that joined us in Omaha last year with perennial regional teams such as Nebraska, Cal State Fullerton, College of Charleston and many other programs on the rise. This schedule is a great challenge for our 2017 team and we are working hard every day to prepare for it."
The Wildcats will open the 2017 campaign on Feb. 17 at Hi Corbett Field versus Eastern Kentucky. First pitch for Opening Day is set for 6 p.m. Arizona will open its season with eight straight home games versus Eastern Kentucky and McNeese State.
The Cats then hit the road for the first time for the Frisco College Baseball Classic. Johnson and the UA will then stop in Lubbock, Texas to play Texas Tech on Tuesday, March 7

The Cats will play a pair of 2016 College World Series teams – Oklahoma State and Texas Tech – in a four-day span. Following a home series versus Hartford, Arizona will travel to Cal State Fullerton to play the Titans in a midweek game before opening Pac-12 play with back-to-back road series' at UCLA and Oregon State.
The team's first home Pac-12 series is set for March 31-April 2 against USC. Following a road trip to Washington State and home series' versus Oregon and Utah, Arizona will travel to Stanford for a three-game series. Arizona will stay in Northern California and play a single midweek game against Santa Clara on Monday, May 1.
Arizona then hosts Washington and Arizona State in a single midweek game, before playing an out-of-conference road series at College of Charleston May 12-14. The Cougars have qualified for an NCAA Regional seven of the past 13 years.
Johnson and the Cats close out their regular season with a road series at Arizona State, before hosting California on the final weekend of the regular season.
