The University of Arizona women's golf team signed Cecilie Bofill as part of the 2017 recruiting class. Bofill is from Silkeborg, Denmark and is currently the 54th ranked player in Europe according to europeangolfrankings.com.
"Cecilie Bofill will be a dominant force on our team starting in the fall of 2017," said head coach Laura Ianello. "She has been one of Europe's best players coming from Denmark, and we have been scouting her for the past four years. At the European Girls Team Championship in 2013 we knew she was a competitor we wanted on our team. Cecilie is an experienced competitor at the highest level, her game will elevate our team and help us to continue to be a dominant force in our conference."
In May of 2016, Bofill won the Danish Girls Championship with a score of 223. She also tied for fourth in the Danish International Ladies Championship with a score of 303. Bofill also tied for 20th at the European Team Ladies Championship in July. In 2014 Bofill placed second in the European Team Ladies Championship finishing the tournament at 7-under par.
"We are so excited to have Cecilie join our Wildcat family and know she will be a perfect fit," said assistant coach Derek Radley. "She has raw talent and with her incredible ball striking ability, the sky is the limit. The best part about Cecilie is not her golf game but who she is as a person. After getting to know her family it is no surprise she is the way she is. Arizona women's golf rich history will continue with Cecilie Bofill! Bear Down!"
