Quihuis Heads Arizona?s Run Up the Scoreboard

TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona women's golf team continued play at the Pac-12 Championships at the Ruby Hill Golf Club on Tuesday in Pleasanton, California. After the second round, the Wildcats are in a tie for second place having carded a collective 280 (-8). With yesterday's 286 (-2), the team is holding at ten under par.
Sophomore Krystal Quihuis notched a 69 (-3), and picked up an eagle on the 513-yard par-five 13th hole. Her score, combined with her 72 (E) from last round, gives her a share of 10th place. Freshman Haley Moore kept things consistent, earning a 72 (E). In conjunction with her 66 (-6) from yesterday, she is currently the lone contender in third place.
“I am very proud of the team's performance,” said head coach Laura Ianello. “Krystal and Jessica (Vasilic) played extremely strong all day. Gigi Stoll finished with three birdies and helped the team immensely. I am so proud of the effort from all of the ladies. The competition is tough so we need to come even more prepared for tomorrow. This golf course is playing fair, but on the easier side, so it's anyone's ball game.”
Freshman Gigi Stoll matched Quihuis' 69 (-3) today, and combined with her 74 (+2) from round one she captured a share of 18th place. Vasilic had a similar round, earning a 70 (-2) and taking a share of 24th place. This is also a result of her 74 (+2) from yesterday. Senior Lindsey Weaver finished with a 72 (E) to earn the tie for 29th place based on her score of 74 (+2) from the last round.
After her record-setting first round, Moore said that she would look to play a steady two rounds. She stuck to her word by earning an even round today. The difference in her two rounds came on the par-5 holes, where today she played them for even-par versus a cumulative three-under par in yesterday's round. However, she is still within striking distance of the individual championship.
Quihuis jumped up 12 spots on the leaderboard today, with a little help from her eagle on the 13th hole. This is only one of two eagles in the tournament thus far. She also managed to card three birdies on the front nine, all on par-4 holes.
A day after Moore had her round of 66 (-6), fellow rookie Gigi Stoll also broke 70 by finishing today's round with a 69 (-3). Stoll parred her first 14, before notching birdies on three of the last four holes to post a 69 (-3).
