Wildcats in Hunt After Round Two of PING/ASU Invitational

TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona women's golf team continued play at the PING/ASU Invitational at the Karsten Golf Course on Saturday in Tempe. The Wildcats are currently in fifth place after the second round. The team carded a collective 291 (+3) in the second round of play.
Junior Jessica Vasilic led the team by notching a 71 (-1). In conjunction with yesterday's 73 (+1), she is currently sitting at even par and holding a tie for 12th place.
Freshman Gigi Stoll kept things steady, earning herself a 72 (E) on the day. Her score yesterday was a 73 (+1), so she is currently one over par and holding a tie for 21st place. Senior Lindsey Weaver was again a key competitor in the second round. Her consistent play with 16 holes at par gave her a 74 (+2) on the day. She is currently tied for 12th place after her 70 (-2) round yesterday. Freshman Haley Moore wrapped up with a 74 (+2). Combined with her 72 (E) from yesterday, this puts her in a tie for 28th place. Sophomore Krystal Quihuis finished with a 74 (+2) today. This, combined with yesterday's 73 (+1), gives Quihuis a share of 32nd place.
In the individual competition, junior Wanasa Zhou carded an 84 (+12) after 18 holes. This result combined with her 79 (+7) from the first round puts her in 76th place.
Senior Lindsey Weaver has 30 pars in her first 36 holes played this tournament. That makes her the statistical leader for the par category, and it's the main reason that she has stayed in the race thus far. Also of note is the diversified leadership from Arizona's team. Each tournament shows a new face leading the team, with Quihuis' strong showing in the Wildcat Invitational, Stoll's performance in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Invitational, and now Vasilic's leadership in this tournament.
