Head Coach Steve Walker Named Pac-12 Coach of the Year

TUCSON, Ariz. – Steve Walker, head coach of the No. 6 ranked Arizona Sand Volleyball team has been named Pac-12 Coach of the Year. Walker guided UA to a 20-7 record and made history as he led the team to the first-ever NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship.
As the head coach he led the Wildcats to a runner-up finish in the inaugural Pac-12 Championship, which included an upset of UCLA for the program's first victory against the Bruins, and the program's highest-ever AVCA ranking of No. 6 this season.
Walker had many success this year as the Wildcats went undefeated at home with an 8-0 record and No. 2 Jianna Bonomi and Katarina Schulz were selected onto Pac-12 All-Conference Second Team. Arizona will lose Jianna Bonomi, Katarina Schulz, Nikki Attea and Kalei Mau who are the four seniors that contributed to the first year in Arizona Sand Volleyball history that the team constructed a 20-win season. The Wildcats now hold a (20-7) record to end the season.
Steve Walker was also instrumental in the development of Arizona's No. 1 duo of Madison and McKenna Witt who were named 2016 AVCA All-Americans and Pac-12 All-Conference First Team. Arizona has been ranked in the top-10 for their entire 2015-2016 campaign and ended the season holding the No. 6 spot.
