Marker and Austin Drop Tough Match at NCAA's

Tulsa, Okla.- The 24th-ranked duo of senior Shayne Austin and junior Lauren Marker came close to upsetting the 18th-ranked Virginia duo of Danielle Collins and Meghan Kelley in NCAA Doubles Competition round of 32 on Thursday, but ending up falling in two close sets (6-3, 7-5). The loss concludes what has been a stellar season for Marker and Austin who had a team-best record of 15-5 together on court one. It is also the last time Austin, who posted a career-best singles record of 14-10 on court two, will play for the Wildcats.
After losing a tough set one, Marker and Austin took a quick 2-1 lead over Kelley and Collins in the second set. The Virginia duo went on a run of their own, but Marker and Austin battled back from being down 2-4 to tie set two at 5-5. Marker and Austin fought hard, but couldn't force a third set after losing a couple key points.
Arizona's elimination from NCAA play marks the end of the 2015-2016 season for the Cats, who compiled a 12-11 overall record. The team will be back in action in October when they begin their 2016-2017 Fall Season.
