Arizona Moving on to NCAA Championships

TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona women's golf team concluded play at the NCAA Bryan Regional at the Traditions Golf Club on Saturday in Bryan, Texas, finishing in second place at even-par after carding team scores of 285 (-3), 282 (-6), and 297 (+9). The second place finish pushes the Wildcats through to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon starting May 20th.
Senior Lindsey Weaver led the team Saturday, carding a 73 (+1) and earning a share of eighth place in the tournament with scores of 72 (E) and 69 (-3) in the first two rounds. Sophomore Krystal Quihuis earned a 75 (+3) Saturday to give her a tie for eighth place as well. She opened the tournament with a 71 (-1), and followed up with a 68 (-4) in the second round.
“We are so excited to be Oregon bound,” said head coach Laura Ianello. “Mission accomplished this week. We were led by Lindsey Weaver and Krystal Quihuis this week. Their solid play locked up the second place finish. Gigi Stoll and Jessica Vasilic fought hard in the tough conditions. We still have not peaked this year so we are looking to keep improving.”
Freshman Gigi Stoll earned a 73 (+1), and with her rounds of 69 (-3) and 76 (+4) this gives her a share of 19th place. Junior Jessica Vasilic notched a 76 (+4) which gives her a share of 29th place, in conjunction with her 73 (+1) and 72 (E) from the first two rounds. Freshman Haley Moore finished with a 78 (+6), and combined with her 76 (+4) and 73 (+1) from prior rounds gives her a share of 59th.
The weather was a major factor for the tournament's competitors with strong winds affecting the conditions. There were no teams that managed to stay below-parSaturday, and only ten players were at or below-par.
This is Quihuis' fourth consecutive top-ten finish on the season, and Weaver's fourth top-ten finish in her last five tournaments. These two are looking to provide the most momentum to the team moving into the championship round in the next two weeks, and build upon their top-30 finishes from last year.
