Wildcats Welcome Colorado On Saturday In McKale Center

The week of visitation from the Mountain schools continues as the Buffaloes come to Tucson.

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arizona Wildcats will welcome the Colorado Buffaloes to the McKale Center on Saturday night two days after downing the Utah Utes 66-56. Saturday will be the only regular season meeting between the two programs as UA will not travel to Boulder this season. The weekend game versus CU is the second game of a three-game home stand that concludes with Arizona State on Thursday.

  • The Wildcats will host the Colorado Buffaloes as the owners of a 14-game home winning streak and as winners of 63 of their last 64 games inside McKale Center. UA is 105-7 (.938) at home since the start of the 2010-11 season and 50-5 (.909) in Pac-12 games during that span.
  • Head coach Sean Miller and the Arizona Wildcats defeated Utah 66-56 on Thursday night in McKale Center their last time out. UA was led by Dusan Ristic with 18 points and eight rebounds on seven of ten shooting from the field, which marked the sixth time this season that the junior has shot 65.0 percent or better in a game. Arizona held the Utes to 4 of 21 (.190) from beyond the arc and out-rebounded the conference's top rebounding margin team by 11. Parker Jackson-Cartwright was a catalyst of the Wildcat offense with nine assists and no turnovers.
  • Arizona is the only team in the nation that has not allowed 70 or more points in a game this season. The Cats entered the week as one of just three teams to hold all of their opponents under 70, but Virginia and Old Dominion conceded 88 and 90 points respectively in a pair of overtime losses in midweek action.
  • UA's win over Utah advances its record to 3-0 in Pac-12 play for just the second time in the Sean Miller era (2009 to present). The 2013-14 Wildcats won their first eight conference games. Arizona has started 3-0 in conference play just four times since 2000.
  • The Wildcats have won seven of their last eight games versus the Buffaloes. They also hold a record of 9-4 in the series since CU joined the Pac-12 conference prior to the 2011-12 season. Last season's two meetings between the two programs were decided by a total of seven points.
  • With Thursday's win over Utah, Arizona pushed its current win streak to eight games. It's the sixth winning streak of eight or more games under head coach Sean Miller.
  • Parker Jackson-Cartwright's return from a high-ankle sprain is entering the fourth game. The junior has tallied 19 assists in the trio of games (6.3 apg) to just three turnovers, which is good for a 6.3 assist-to-turnover ratio. It is more of the same efficiency from the point guard from before the injury. Jackson-Cartwright tallied 46 assists to just 10 turnovers in his first six games of the season. His six games missed due to injury puts PJC below the minimum games played requirements for NCAA and Pac-12 rankings. If he were included in those rankings, Jackson-Cartwright's 4.0 assist-to-turnover ratio this season would rank seventh in the nation and first in the Pac-12.
  • Not only is Arizona the only team in the nation to hold all of its opponents to 69 or fewer points, but its streak of 16 consecutive games of fewer than 70 points allowed is the best such streak to open a season since the 1950-51 season. The Wildcats held their first 28 opponents to 69 or fewer points and also did so in 29 of their 30 games played that season. This year's Wildcats are also just the third Arizona team since 1950-51 season to hold at least their first ten opponents under the 70-point mark, joining the 2014-15 and 2013-14 teams.
