Social Media Year in Review: Volleyball

As the year comes to an end, let's take a look back at our top 10 posts from 2017. Be sure to follow the team on Twitter and Instagram to be a part of these moments in 2018!
1. On Oct. 6, Arizona swept No. 15 USC, handing the previously unbeaten Trojans their first conference loss of the season. The victory was UA's first over a ranked opponent in 2017 and kept alive a streak of now seven consecutive seasons in which Arizona has upset USC or UCLA while they were ranked. This was our most-liked tweet (290) of the year.
2. In perhaps the most exciting match of 2017, Arizona stormed back from an 0-2 hole to upset No. 16 Oregon in McKale on Nov. 12. The 818 likes on Instagram were the most of any post in 2017.
3. On Sept. 21, we opened Pac-12 play with a sweep over Arizona State in Tempe. The 70 retweets this tweet received were the most in 2017.
4. Our second most liked Instagram post of 2017 was our senior week post thanking McKenzie Jacobson, Jade Turner and Kimberly Gutierrez for all they've given to the program. This post received 796 likes.
5. Paige Whipple's 24 kills in Arizona's four-set victory over William & Mary on Sept. 15 marked the first 20-plus-kill match by a freshman in the Pac-12 in 2017. At season's end, her 24 kills were the second most in a match by a Pac-12 freshman.
6. During Arizona's victory over USC, the two teams engaged in a rally that lasted over one minute in the third set. This was our second most retweeted tweet of 2017, receiving 64 retweets to go along with 193 likes.
7. People loved our poster, and what isn't there to like? Our "
" poster release received 49 retweets and 190 likes on Twitter.
8. As summer neared the end and volleyball season crept closer, this tweet received 29 retweets and 166 likes. Was the interaction because we were closing in on volleyball season, or was it because of Tyler Spriggs, Sara Watanabe, Jade Turner, Mackenzie Hernandez, Victoria Svorinic and Kendra Dahlke's celebration skills? We'll let you be the judge.
9. Beating Arizona State is fun. Especially when you do it twice in one year and the second one is on Senior Day. This was a fun way to end the 2017 season.
10. While we don't want to have fun at anyone's expense, there was quite a bit of social media reaction to this video of a fastball off the arm of Candice Denny (there were no Utah volleyball players injured in the making of this tweet).
