LINCOLN, Nebraska – Today Arizona Gymnastics traveled to Lincoln, Nebraska where they competed as the fourth seed in the North Central NCAA Regional Competition. The Cats earned a score of 195.500 and took home 5
th place. The GymCats will not continue on to compete in the NCAA Championships in St. Louis as a team on April 15
th.
Arizona began the meet on the uneven bars. Senior
Selynna Felix-Terrazas earned the top score for the Cats with a 9.775.
Christina Berg,
Gabrielle Laub,
Victoria Ortiz, and
Danielle Spencer all earned scores of 9.750, and
Krysten Howard scored a 9.725.
During the second rotation the GymCats took to the balance beam, earning a team score of 49.000.
Haylie Hendrickson was calm and collected during her routine, earning a 9.850.
Madison Cindric also turned on the charm during her routine to earn a 9.850, this being the third week in a row Cindric has earned a 9.850 or higher on beam.
Krysten Howard contributed a 9.800 for the Cats and
Victoria Ortiz and
Kennady Schneider earned 9.750's.
Following beam, Arizona moved on to compete on floor.
Krysten Howard and
Lauryn Mattson contributed a pair of 9.800's, this being Howard's fifth week in a row to score a 9.800 or higher. Juniors
Kennady Schneider and
Madison Cindric earned a pair of 9.775's, and
Christina Berg earned a new season and career high with a 9.750.
On the final rotation the GymCats headed to the vault.
Madison Cindric had a beautiful vault that scored a 9.825. Freshman
Heather Swanson earned a 9.775, this being her tenth vault this season being a 9.750 or higher.
Lauryn Mattson and
Maddi Leydin earned a pair of 9.750's. Leyin returned to the vault lineup after being gone for eight weeks due to a calf injury, the last time she competed was against Iowa State at home on February 21
st.
