Cats in Fifth After Round One of the Pac-12 Championships

The University of Arizona women's golf team completed the first round of play at the Pac-12 Championships in Tucson, Ariz. on Monday. The Wildcats are currently in fifth place after shooting 17-over par.
"The team struggled a little bit today with the conditions being so tough," said coach Laura Ianello. "We hit a lot of shots in areas we know we can't be. That was the difference between us shooting a decent score compared to us being 17-over. I told the girls to keep their heads up, we still have a home course advantage and we still know this golf course. All of the girls fought their butts off especially with the 30 MPH winds. We can easily make a big comeback and win this thing."
Senior Jessica Vasilic shot a round of 75 and is currently tied for 14th place. Sophomore Gigi Stoll posted a three-over-par round of 75 and is also in a tie for 14th place. Junior Krystal Quihuis is tied for 24th after carding a round of 77. Sophomore Haley Moore shot six-over par, finishing with a round of 78. Senior Wanasa Zhou finished her first round by posting a round of 78.
UCLA leads the tournament by six strokes after finishing the first round at two-over-par. Lilia Vu and Bethany Wu of UCLA are tied for the individual tournament lead at one-under-par.
Arizona will tee off the second round on Tuesday morning at 8 a.m.
