Miller and the Cats Welcome Jeter and Akot to 2017 Recruiting Class

Chase Jeter and Emmanuel Akot round out UA's six-member recruiting class.

TUCSON, Ariz. – Head coach Sean Miller and the Arizona Basketball program have added two members to the 2017 recruiting class in Chase Jeter and Emmanuel Akot. Jeter joins the Wildcats after two seasons at Duke University while Akot will head to Tucson as a freshman. The duo round out the 2017 recruiting class joining incoming freshmen Deandre Ayton, Alex Barcello, Ira Lee and Brandon Randolph.

CHASE JETER – 6'10" 230 LBS. – FORWARD/CENTER – DUKE UNIVERSITY

Chase Jeter, a 2015 McDonald's All-American, joins the Wildcats after playing two seasons at Duke. He will sit out the 2017-18 season and have two seasons of eligibility after.

"We are really excited to have Chase join our program," Miller said. "He had a back injury that has worked itself out, but he is now full go and 100 percent healthy. I, personally, have great experience with Chase because I was his assistant coach on the Team USA U-18 Team. We are getting an excellent player that we expect great things from and he expects great things from himself. Getting Chase was a big, big coup for us, as big as anything we were able to do this spring."

Jeter made 48 appearances for the Blue Devils and was a two-time ACC All-Academic Team honoree. The 6-foot-10-inch post player appeared in 16 games, including six starts, last season. He averaged 2.6 points and 2.7 rebounds per game as a sophomore.

The Las Vegas native was the 2015 Nevada Gatorade Player of the Year at Bishop Gorman High School. Jeter's senior season saw him averaged 16 points and ten rebounds per game while guiding Bishop Gorman to a state title.

Jeter was also a member of the 2015 United States Junior National Team and the 2014 United States U18 team that won gold at the FIBA Americas Championship.
He is the son of Christian and Kimberly Jeter. Christian was a member of UNLV's 1990 national championship team.

EMMANUEL AKOT – 6'7" 190 LBS. – GUARD – WASATCH ACADEMY (UTAH)

Akot, originally a member of UA's 2018 recruiting class, will join the program as a freshman next season. The 6-foot-7-inch Canadian, originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, is a consensus five-star and top 25 prospect in the 2018 recruiting class.

"He has a lot of talent and his versatility strikes me," Miller noted. "As a player, Emmanuel isn't relegated to just one position. He can play a lot of different positions. He's an adept passer, in fact, one of the best passers for his size that I have seen. That's an exciting quality. Defensively, the sky is the limit."

Akot has international playing experience for his home country of Canada. He represented his nation as part of the FIBA U17 World Championships last summer while averaging 9.9 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.

The future Wildcat finished the 2016-17 prep season at Wasatch Academy in Utah where he averaged 17 points, seven rebounds and two assists per game and helped guide his team to a 21-win season and an appearance in the Dick's Sporting Goods National Tournament in New York City.
