NORMAN, Okla. – A standout year in the classroom by the University of Arizona Men's Golf team was capped by receiving the Golf Coaches Association of America's Team Academic Award after posting a team grade point average over 3.00.
The Wildcats were one of only four programs from the Pac-12 Conference to earn the prestigious academic honor. The 2017 award is UA's fourth in the last five years, which ties for the most honors among any Pac-12 member during that span.
Arizona's summer also saw sophomore
David Laskin qualify for the 2017 U.S. Amateur Championship in California in August after finishing tied for first at 6-under par. Laskin opened the two days of play with a blistering 67, which matched the lowest round on course during the qualifier. He followed up his low round with a 69 on the second day, making him one of just four players in the 85-man field to shoot below bar in both rounds.
