Women’s Golf Adds Top Amateur Bianca Pagdanganan

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arizona women's golf program will add top amateur and Gonzaga transfer Bianca Pagdanganan for the 2017-18 season, head coach Laura Ianello announced on Friday. Ranked 136th on the World Amateur list and 81st in GolfWeek's collegiate ranking, Pagdanganan will have two years of eligibility as a Wildcat.

"Bianca is going to add depth to our roster this season," Ianello said. "She has experience playing at the highest level and qualifying for the NCAA championships as an individual has proved that. Bianca has many accolades and I'm excited for her to compete against the best in the Pac-12 on a weekly basis. Additionally, she will be a tremendous teammate that will push our current roster to continue improving."

During her two seasons in Spokane, Pagdanganan notched a combined scoring average of 73.22, while posting seven Top-5 finishes and 11 Top 10s. She became the first Bulldog in program history to reach an NCAA Regional or Championship and appeared in both as an individual in 2016 and '17.

As a sophomore, Pagdanganan tied for fourth in the NCAA Albuquerque Regional before placing 66th at the NCAA Championships. Earlier in the year, she tied the NCAA women's single-round record with a 61 at the Pizza Hut Thunderbird Invitational before going on to win the tournament at 14 under par. She finished the year with a 73.24 scoring average and tallied three Top 5s and five Top 10s.

In 2016, Pagdanganan earned Co-WCC Freshman of the Year honors after posting a school-record 73.21 stroke average and notching four Top-5 finishes and six Top 10s. She tied for second at the WCC Championships before tying for eighth at the NCAA Bryan Regional to qualify for the NCAA Championships.

Pagdanganan also has extensive experience in her home country of the Philippines. She is the reigning Philippines Ladies Open Champion, posting a score of 16-under over three rounds. Pagdanganan won the 2014 Philippine Junior Amateur Open and earned medalist honors during the stroke-play portion of the competition. Previously, she placed second at the 2013 Philippine Amateur and tied for 25th at the 2013 Junior Worlds.
