Haley Moore Wins the Golfweek Conference Challenge

The University of Arizona women's golf team completed third round play at the Golfweek Conference Challenge on Wednesday at Red Sky Golf Club in Wolcott, Colo. Haley Moore won the individual tournament shooting 7-under par for the tournament with rounds of 74,64, and 71. This is Moore's second career collegiate victory after she won the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate last season.

"I played pretty solid this week. I struck the ball real well all three rounds," said Moore. "I had some bad holes here and there but I just stayed patient and finished strong with the eagle putt on No. 18. The difference this week was focusing a lot on where to place the ball on these greens as they were very fast and undulating. I remained patient every round as it got windy and cold coming towards the end of the round. Today I got off to a hot start on my first nine and then had bad some bad holes and got frustrated but I kept my composure until the end and finished strong to pull out the win."

"I'm very proud of how Haley kept her composure today," said head coach Laura Ianello. "She got a little nervous in the middle of the round and fought it out for the win."

Junior Bianca Pagdanganan finished in a tie for 38th place after shooting a round of 73 on the day and finishing the tournament at 8-over par. Junior Gigi Stoll carded a 75 in her third round, finishing the tournament at 8-over par and in a tie for 38th place. Senior Krystal Quihuis finished tied for 55th place after carding a 75 on her round and finishing the tournament at 12-over par. Freshman Cecilie Bofill earned a finish for 73rd place at 17-over par.

UA finished in fourth place, nine strokes behind first place Denver. The Cats finished the third round at 6-over par, and 17-over for the tournament.

"The team needs to continue to work on putting and chipping," continued Ianello. "Our putting stats were not where they need to be. We will continue to keep working and piece together a good team finish. The team is still needing to come together, we are still a little inconsistent."

Arizona will next head to Highland Park, Illinois at Northmoor Country Club for the Windy City Collegiate on Oct. 2-3.
