Despite Offensive Domination Wildcats Fall 1-0 to Florida Gulf Coast University

TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona women's soccer team was defeated by Florida Gulf Coast University with a score of 1–0 in Tucson, Ariz. on Friday night. The Wildcats outshot FCGU by 19-2 through the 90 minutes of action.

"We got the creating chances bit down," said head coach Tony Amato. "We should probably emphasize that we need to put those away. We created chances tonight but we couldn't score a goal. We made a mistake and they took it well. We just weren't able to find the back of the net after that."

Arizona is back in action on Sunday, Sep. 10 in Tucson, when the Wildcats will take on Texas Tech at 6 p.m. MST.

Minute-by-minute Recap

2' – Kennedy Kieneker opened the match with a shot from the 18-yd. mark over that went over the bar.

7' – Cali Crisler took a corner kick but the ball was stolen by FGCU and the attack fizzled out.

10' – Brandi Park got into the match by breaking down a long through-ball on the left side of the pitch.

24' – Crisler took another corner kick that slipped through the back of the box and went out of play.

25' – A long through-ball slipped through the Arizona defense and led to a breakaway for FGCU. They scored and led 1-0.

30' – Gabi Stoian brought down a ball at the top of the box, turned, and fired but the effort went just wide.

38' – Jada Talley and Stoian each got a shot off but the FGCU keeper scooped up the ball.

47' – Jill Aguilera got a shot off but it was blocked just inside the box.

52' – A couple of deep throw-ins from Sabrina Enciso gave the Wildcats a few chances, but they were unable to capitalize.

56' – Two corner kicks gave the Wildcats two more chances but they got no clean shots out of it.

64' – A long throw from Enciso found Kelcey Cavarra who turned and rang a shot off the post.

76' – After a corner kick Kieneker ripped a shot but it just snuck over the top left corner of the frame.

84' – Stoian played a beautiful ball over the top of the defense for Crisler but she pushed it just wide right.
