No. 10 GymCats Hit the Road to Compete Against No. 12 Iowa State

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona gymnastics, now ranked No. 10 after week one of NCAA gymnastics, travels for the first time this season to Ames, Iowa to compete against Iowa State (No. 12) on Friday, Jan. 12.

"The program is looking forward to its first road trip of the 2018 season," said head coach John Court. "We need to use the momentum from week one and accomplish more event and individual goals this Friday."

Last Week:
On Jan. 6, the GymCats took on Denver (No. 8) at home in McKale Center. The Cats charged into the 2018 with full force, earning a final score of 195.425, which Denver barely combatted with their final score of 195.775. Arizona also earned their first pair of 49.000+ on two events, the uneven bars and floor (earning a 49.025 on both).

With a score of 195.425, Arizona blew last year's opening meet score of 194.025 out of the water. The Cats also beat their scores from 2015 (194.375 against Alabama), 2014 (194.750 against Illinois-Chicago), 2013 (195.150 at the Cancun Classic), and 2011 (193.825 in the Pac-10 Preview).
