TUCSON, Ariz. – The 37
th annual Arizona Intercollegiate and Arizona Medalist tournament is set to begin on Monday, January 29, marking the beginning of the 2018 season for the Cats. The tournament will be held at home course, Sewailo Golf Course, which measure 7, 283 yards and held at 72 par. Competition will start at 8 a.m MST with two rounds being played on Monday, and the last round and medal ceremony on Tuesday.
"Playing at home to open the championship segment of our season, is an opportunity to build important momentum, to tip things off," comments head coach
Jim Anderson. "We know the course and we are prepared for the setup. Sewailo is in fantastic shape and although a windy forecast, the visiting teams will enjoy a few days in golfing paradise. Several from our team have been working to prepare for this tourney for months and we anticipate a challenge with a some quality opponents"

The field will consist of 18 programs, including top ranked programs, such as fourth ranked Texas A & M and fifth ranked Baylor. Other notable programs such as Cal, UCLA, and Santa Clara, which all rank among the top 25 teams according to Golfstat, will be among teams competing in Tucson.

Competing for Arizona will be senior
George Cunningham, sophomores
David Laskin and
Brad Reeves, and freshman
Tianlang Guan and
Trevor Werbylo.

Cunningham, Laskin, and Reeves competed in all four events during the fall semester. Cunningham finished tied for second in the Patriot All-American this past winter break. Laskin also had a successful break, placing fourth in the Saguaro Amateur.

Werbylo also takes the course for a fourth time, making him the only freshman who has played in all events. Guan will participate in team play for the first time in his collegiate career.

David Laskin," adds Anderson. "Both are qualified leaders, but Brad, Trevor and Langly are equally capable, which gives both coaches great confidence in our team."Â

The tournament is open to the public and is free admission. Carts will be available for spectator use at a first come first serve basis for those with special needs and the appropriate documentation, with a $25 cart fee. Live scoring will be conducted through Golftstat.com
