Alivia Kendrick is a freshman from Springboro, Ohio. Kendrick is a three-time champion, winning the Eastern Nationals and regional floor in 2015 and regional floor and beam in 2017. Kendrick is looking forward to her debut with the GymCats and contributing to a successful year.
How old were you when you started gymnastics?
I was two years old when I started gymnastics.
What is your favorite event and why?
Floor is my favorite event because I love to dance, and tumbling has always been my favorite.
What is fun and special about collegiate gymnastics?
College gymnastics is fun and special because everyone you train with has the same goal. Every struggle in and out of the gym and every hard workout you have, you get through it together, so the team atmosphere and the sense of family is so strong which makes you want to get up and do it again every day.
What made Arizona stand out when you were being recruited?
The first thing that stood out was feeling like I was at home. Even though Ohio is a long way away I felt at home here. Also, the coaches and team were so welcoming from the start and really made me fall in love with the school even more than I already had.
Favorite motivational quote?
"Every setback is a setup for a comeback. God wants to bring you out better than you were before. So, work hard and never get discouraged."
Who is your favorite professional athlete and why?
My favorite athlete is Shawn Johnson. I grew up watching her and have always been inspired by her.
What is your dream job after college?
I want to work for Nike and do something in retail marketing.
Do you have any siblings?
I have two brothers, James is 14 and Jake is 24
Who is your celebrity crush?
My celebrity crush is Zac Efron.
What is a hobby you have outside of gymnastics?
Outside of gymnastics, I like shopping and just hanging out with friends.
What is your favorite GymCat memory thus far?
My favorite GymCat memory so far is the team retreat. We went to Mount Lemmon and I got to know the girls a lot better!
