Palo Alto, Calif. – The University of Arizona cross country program competed in the 2018 Pac-12 Championships in Palo Alto, Calif. on Friday. The ladies team finished 10th with a score of 251 and the men took eighth with a score of 213. Individually,
Carlos Villarreal and
Addi Zerrenner finished in the top 15.
"Addi (Zerrenner) did great, I am so proud of her," said head cross country coach
James Li. "Jennie (Baragar-Petrash) had a very good race, finishing 19th was by far her best. Carlos (Villarreal) did well, finishing 15th, running by far his best race. After that everyone ran well.
Seamus White ran a good race. Now our focus is on Regionals, getting our young athletes some experience and hopefully have a shot at getting some of our athletes to Nationals."
On the women's side, Zerrenner finished 10th with a time of 19:58.97 and
Jennie Baragar-Petrash ran a time of 20:29.90 in the 6K race to finish 19th.
For the men, Villarreal finished 15th with a time of 23:24.8, White finished the 8K run with a time of 24:14.2 and
Shem Kemboi ran a time of 24:49.3.
Up next, the Cats will travel to Sacramento, Calif. to compete in the NCAA West Regional on Friday, November 9th.
