ATLANTA, Ga. -- The 2018 East Lake Cup concluded on Wednesday, with the Arizona Wildcats falling to Alabama 3-2 in the consolation match, and the USC Trojans defeating Stanford in the finals match.
The Cats got off to hot start with senior
Haley Moore and sophomore
Yu-Sang Hou jumping out to early leads and never looking back. Moore was the first player off the tee this morning, and won five holes on the front nine to take a 4-up lead. Moore birdied the par-5 14th to win her match 5&4. Hou also birdied the 14th to win 5&4 in what has been an incredible week for her.
Alabama responded to the 2-0 deficit by taking the last three matches over freshman
Ya-Chun Chang, senior
Bianca Pagdanganan, and junior
Sandra Nordaas. This was the first match play meeting between these teams since Arizona's 3-2 win over Alabama in last season's national championship.
It will be a quick turnaround for the Cats, as they will travel to Hawaii for the Pac-12 Preview which begins on Monday.
