KAILUA KONA, Hi. -- The strong play of sophomore Yu-Sang Hou continued Monday at day one of the Pac-12 Preview. Hou currently sits at 4-under after shooting a first round 69, and is a big part of the reason why the Cats are only six shots back of the lead at 3-over.
Hou began her round on the fourth hole with a birdie, and proceeded to birdie three of her next six holes as well. This marks her lowest round to par of the season. Junior Sandra Nordaas mixed three birdies with three bogeys to shoot a first-round 73 (E), and freshman Ya Chun Chang led the field in pars on her way to a 1-over 74.
Senior Haley Moore notched three birdies on the back nine to shoot 6-over, and senior Bianca Pagdanganan recovered from a poor start to post an 81 (+8).
The Wildcats are only six shots out of the three-way tie for first heading into day two of the tournament.
