BENCH PRODUCING EARLY FOR WILDCATSÂ Â Â
Through two games this season, Arizona has already accumulated 54 bench points, posting 27 in each of their first two games this season. Only three times last season did Arizona score 27 or more bench points in a game. The producivity this year has come from multiple spots already. Against Houston Baptist,
Alex Barcello and
Emmanuel Akot each led the way for the bench squad with seven points each.
Dylan Smith led the way against Cal poly, scoring 12 points in 19 minutes, and grabbing seven rebounds.
Ira Lee also had a strong performance off the bench for Arizona, scoring six points and grabbing a career-high eight rebounds in 14 minutes.
JETER STARTS STRONG
Chase Jeter arrived at Arizona prior to the 2017-18 season after transferring from Duke, but had to sit out the season per NCAA rules. He made his official debut against Houston Baptist last week and shined at the center position. Jeter  played 20 minutes and scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Jeter was an efficient 4 for 5 from the floor and 3 for 5 from the free throw line. It's the second straight year an Arizona player has had a double-double in his debut.
Deandre Ayton had 19 points and 12 rebounds against Northern Arizona in his first game with the Wildcats last season. Jeter had a big hand in Arizona scoring 42 points in the paint and the Wildcats outrebounding Houston Baptist, 50-39. He followed up his season-opening performance with a career-high 16 points and six rebounds Sunday against Cal Poly. In the very early going, Jeter is tied for 20th in the Pac-12 with 13.5 points per game. Jeter was a McDonald's All-American in 2015 out of Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas. Â Â Â
