TUCSON, Ariz. – John Court is ready to take on the 2019 season with the GymCats as they prepare for their annual GymCat Showcase on December 2 at 2 p.m. in McKale Center.
"Friday was a really good first intrasquad for the whole team," said assistant coach
Taylor Spears. "I'm very proud of them! Everyone who competed was 100% confident. They saw that their hard work is paying off so far, and they trusted that. We're going to keep working hard and focus on the little details. I'm excited for season!"
The GymCat Showcase is an opportunity for the Tucson community to meet the team before the season begins. The format of the Showcase will resemble a normal meet with the GymCats showcasing their talents on each event in McKale Center.
The Showcase is also a great opportunity for the four freshmen,
Alivia Kendrick,
Asia Rose DuVernay,
Kennedi Davis, and
MacKinzie Kane to experience the energy in McKale for the first time.
"I can't wait to get out there under the lights in McKale and compete with my amazing team!" said freshman
MacKinzie Kane.
The Arizona gymnastics seniors,
Danielle Spencer and
Haylie Hendrickson, will begin their final season competing as a GymCat with the annual Meet the Team event.
"I'm excited to show off what we've been working so hard in the gym for," said junior
Jenny Leung. "Our last intrasquad was really good, so we just want to keep that momentum going into the showcase and season."
The GymCat Showcase is a ticketed event. Admission is five dollars for everyone and children 12 years and under are free. However, the Showcase is included in the season ticket holder package, so all season ticket holders who have previously purchased tickets will receive free admission to the Showcase.
Arizona Gymnastics season tickets are still available for purchase. For only 30 dollars, season ticket holders will receive admission to the GymCat Showcase and all five home meets.
