TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona women's soccer team beat Denver by a score of 3-0 on Friday Night at Mulcahy Stadium. Goals were all scored in the second half, by
Kennedy Kieneker,
Amanda Porter and
Kelcey Cavarra. This victory advances the Cats to the second round of the NCAA Tournament where they will play the Tennessee Volunteers in Knoxville, Tenn.
The Cats were held scoreless in the first half but jumped out of the gate in the second half, scoring two goals in the first 15 minutes of the half. Kieneker found the net first for the Cats, and Porter followed up with a beautiful free kick goal just outside the 18-yard box.
Kelcey Cavarra converted on a penalty kick to seal the deal for Arizona.
Arizona controlled the pace of play throughout the game, and outshot Denver 17-5.
Lainey Burdett made two phenomenal second half saves and
Hallie Pearson made an incredible defensive play to keep the Pioneers off the scoresheet.

Iyana Zimmerman's shot proved troublesome for the Denver keeper, but the Cats couldn't capitalize on the rebound.
