Arizona Tied for First After Round One of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge

Palos Verdes, Calif. - The Arizona women's golf team completed the first round of play at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge on Sunday at Palos Verdes Golf Club. The Cats finished at 1-over par (285 strokes) and are in a tie for first place with Arizona State.
Junior Haley Moore is tied for fifth place after posting a 1-under par round of 70. Moore carded four birdies in her round with three coming on the back nine. Junior Gigi Stoll shot a round of even par, which puts her in a tie for eighth place. Junior Bianca Pagdanganan and freshman Yu-Sang Hou each shot a 1-over par round of 72 on their day. Pagdanganan and Hou are both tied for 14th place. Sophomore Sandra Nordaas is tied for 39th after carding a 75 in her opening round. Nordaas played a clean back nine which included three birdies.

"Really proud of the ladies today, lead by Haley Moore shooting one under," said coach Laura Ianello. "Along with Gigi, Bianca, Yu-Sang, our new player from Taiwan and Sandra Nordaas in the lineup. This is a great field, a national championship field. The ladies did amazing today, focusing on small goals such as keeping a positive attitude, minimizing three putts. We've been working super hard at practice on ball striking and distance control, I'm really happy with them."
The Cats played very well on a difficult day in which the tournament average score was 75.67. UA played the Par-4s at 4-over par and the Par-5s at 5-under par, both of which led the field.Monday Tee Times:
