Montgomery, Ala. -- The Arizona Wildcats begin a stretch of tournaments this Friday when they head to Alabama for the historic Blue Gray Classic. The Blue Gray Classic, founded in 1949, is considered by many to be one of the most prestigious collegiate tournaments in the nation.
The Wildcats will be competing against seven other schools, including rival ASU. Arizona is coming off a solid weekend sweep, which saw several Wildcats go undefeated in singles and doubles. Sophomore
Alejandro Reguant needs one more win to push his singles winning streak to double-digits, and his freshman teammate,
Filip Malbasic, only needs two wins to accomplish the same feat.
"The Blue gray tournament is one of the finest college tennis events in the country." said head coach
Clancy Shields. "I'm so happy our players get to experience this event. I know it will be one of the fondest memories they have from their college experience. The amazing southern hospitality and the lifelong relationships our players will make this weekend are truly special. I'm looking forward to the great competition and seeing our guys battle with some of the best teams in the country."
Draws are posted on the tournament site. Arizona kicks off play against Princeton on Friday at 8:00 a.m. MST.
