Arizona Gymnastics Host their Annual Pink Meet and Senior Meet

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona gymnastics heads into week five ranked No. 25 in the NCAA. This Sunday at 12 p.m. they will host No. 20 Stanford in McKale Center for their annual Pink Meet, recognizing February as breast cancer awareness month. Sunday will also serve as senior night in recognition of Arizona's three GymCat seniors.
Junior Danielle Spencer and sophomores Christina Berg and Heather Swanson talked about their three seniors, Madison Cindric, Kennady Schneider, and Victoria Ortiz.
"I've known Kennady since high school," said Danielle Spencer. "We were always head-to-head, and I remember seeing her at Regionals and we were both going to Arizona, but she was graduating a year earlier than me. It was really nice coming in and already knowing someone on the team. She's been a great mentor to me, and I've never met a more confident person. She's so unique and knows her identity so well, and I love her for that. She's just been an amazing teammate for the past three years."
"Victoria has been a really strong influence on me on bars," said Christina Berg. "She would always be there to motivate me. She's a very strong and powerful woman, and she's been extremely inspirational to me."
"I really look up to Maddy," said Heather Swanson. "She's an amazing leader, and I inspire to become a leader like her some day. She sparks inspiration in all of us, and she has never treated any of us with less respect because we're younger, which made me admire her even more. Maddy has worked so hard to get where she has, and next year when she's gone I'm really going to miss having her around the gym."
Pink Meet and Senior Night:
Each year in February the GymCats host a Pink Meet to recognize survivors and victims of breast cancer. This Sunday the Cats welcome you to join them if you or a family member/close friend has ever been affected by this tragedy. Survivors in attendance on Sunday will be asked to stand in recognition of their courage and strength.
Sunday will also serve as Arizona's annual senior night meet. The Cats will recognize their three seniors, Madison Cindric, Kennady Schneider, and Victoria Ortiz, for their accomplishments over the past four years. There will be a small ceremony for them following the competition.
Last Week:
On Sunday, Feb. 4 the Cats traveled to Berkeley, Calif. to compete against the Cal Bears. The Cats lost with a final score of 194.425 to Cal's 195.950, however senior Madison Cindric shinned by brining home gold in the beam (9.875) and all-around competitions (39.225).
Coming Up:
For the next few weeks, Arizona will be on the road. On Saturday, Feb. 17 the Cats will travel to compete against Oregon State in Corvallis, Oregon, at 1:30 p.m. MST. On Saturday, Feb. 24 the Cats come a little closer to home, and will travel to compete against in-state rivals ASU at 4 p.m. in the Wells Fargo Arena. Finally, on Friday, March 2 Arizona will travel to compete against Arkansas at 6 p.m. MST in Fayttville, Arkansas.

The Pac-12 Championships Come to Tucson:
For the first time in eight years, the Pac-12 Championships are returning to Tucson. Join the Wildcats as they host session 1 and 2 of the Pac-12 final competition in McKale Center on March 24th, 2018. Tickets will be available for purchase starting on Feb. 12 through the Arizona ticketing office at (520) 621-CATS.
"We're really looking to have a big crowd on Sunday for our pink meet and senior night," said head coach John Court. "We've been working hard in the gym all week, and we want to have a great competition in McKale before we hit the road for the next few weeks."
