Arizona Hosts USC In A Second Primetime ESPN Meeting Of Week

The Wildcats and Trojans will meet for the only time during the regular season on Saturday evening.

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arizona Wildcats welcome their second Los Angeles visitor to McKale Center on Saturday night. USC arrives in Tucson as Arizona's second LA meeting of the week for a second primetime ESPN broadcast for the week with Dave Pasch and Bill Walton.

The Arizona Wildcats return to McKale Center two days following their 82-74 loss to UCLA. Deandre Ayton finished the game with his 16th double-double of the season, scoring 16 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. The Wildcats and Bruins were even in points in the paint (34) and points off turnovers (13) in the game while nearly even in fastbreak points (UCLA +1) and bench points (Arizona +2).

Allonzo Trier averages 21.3 points per game in his career against the Trojans, which is his highest scoring average versus a Pac-12 program. The junior had one of the best games of his career in the last meeting with USC as he finished the night with 25 points while shooting 63.6 percent from the floor, 66.7 percent from deep and 87.5 percent from the free throw line.

Entering Saturday, Arizona has a home record of 12-1 for the season. UA is 135-14 (.906) under head coach Sean Miller with a mark of 68-10 (.872) in conference home games. The Wildcats' record of 79-3 (.963) in Tucson since the start of the 2013-14 season is the best home record in the nation during that span.

The Wildcat duo of Deandre Ayton and Allonzo Trier was included on the John R. Wooden Award's Late Season Top 20 list. The two Wildcats represented two-thirds of the Pac-12 Conference's representatives on the final list for the national player of the year award. Ayton and Trier were also named finalists for their respective positional awards from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Ayton is a finalist for the Karl Malone Award while Trier earned the same distinction for the Jerry West Award.

UA has compiled a record of 11-4 versus USC during the Sean Miller era of 2009 to present. All four losses have come in the Galen Center by an average margin of 7.25 points. Arizona is 7-0 against the Trojans in Tucson during that same time with an average margin of victory of 14.57 points per game.

Freshman Deandre Ayton has increased his attack of the offensive glass with 13 offensive rebounds in his last three games (4.33 orpg). He had a total of 12 offensive rebounds in his previous seven games (1.71 orpg).
