"Simon Says Championship" - Arizona To Celebrate 30th Anniversary of National Championship at Red-Blue Showcase

TUCSON, Ariz. - On March 31, 1997, Arizona men's basketball fans heard Billy Packer say three words on the CBS broadcast that still resonate to this day:
"Simon says championship!"
Those words – 30 years ago – capped off the historic 1996-97 season with the Wildcats first national championship and now fans will have a chance to see members of that magical team back in McKale Center at ALKEME Arena together at the 2026 Red-Blue Showcase on Sept. 26.
Fans can expect to see Miles Simon, the 1997 Final Four MVP, All-American Mike Bibby, A.J. Bramlett, Eugene Edgerson, Bennett Davison, Jason Lee, Quynn Tebbs, Josh Pastner and others from that historic team.
Members of the 1997 team will be introduced during the Red-Blue Showcase at the Post/Move concert following the event. A select number of fans will also receive a commemorative poster recognizing the 30th anniversary of the national title team upon entry to the Red-Blue Showcase.
Doors open at 1:00 p.m. MST for the Red-Blue Showcase and the event is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. MST with Post/Move concert slated to begin on Bear Down Field around 5:00 p.m. MST.
