TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona gymnastics prepares for their last week of regular season competition as they head to Baton Rouge on Saturday, March 17. The Cats will take on No. 2 LSU for their final regional-qualifying road score, then will return home on March 24 for the 2018 Pac-12 Championships.
"We are looking forward to building on last week's meet and know we left a few tenths out there," said head coach
John Court. "Practices have been going great this week and we are excited to head to LSU."
Last Week:
On Friday, March 9 the Cats hosted their Military Appreciation Night against UNC, Air Force, and San Jose State in McKale Center. Arizona came out of the competition with a victory, earning an overall score of 195.725. Runner-up was SJSU with a 195.025, followed by UNC with a 194.850, and Air Force with a 194.275.
Arizona earned first place titles on the uneven bars (Berg – 9.900), balance beam (Cindric/Ortiz – 9.900), and all-around competitions (Cindric – 39.200).
Coming Up:
Saturday's meet against LSU will be the final regular-season competition for Arizona, and on Saturday, March 24 the Cats will host the 2018 Pac-12 Championships in Tucson. Session one will begin at 1 p.m. MST and session two will begin at 6 p.m. MST, and broadcast details will be determined at a later date. Beam Queens Take Their Reign:
Arizona has taken charge on the balance beam for the past two weeks, earning a 49.275 last week and a 49.525 on March 2 against Arkansas (a new school record). The Cats are hoping to not only keep up this motivation on beam, but to match this vigor on all four events during their meet against No. 2 LSU.
