SEATTLE, Wash. -- For the second-straight game, Arizona was unable to hang on to a sixth-inning lead and eventually fell in extra innings as top-ranked Washington walked off with its second straight one-run win, 4-3 in eight innings.
Jessie Harper hit a three-run homer in the top of the sixth inning to turn a 2-0 Washington lead to a 3-2 Arizona advantage, but Washington's Emma Helm led off the bottom half with a homer to tie the game.
Two innings later, Taryn Atlee hit a walkoff double in the bottom of the eighth.
It marks Arizona's third one-run, extra-inning loss this season and second in consecutive nights to the top-ranked Huskies. UA is 24-5, 3-2 Pac-12 this season.
Alyssa Denham pitched the first five innings and gave up two runs on six hits with three strikeouts and did not factor into the decision.
Taylor McQuillin pitched the final 2.1 innings and allowed two runs on two hits with three strikeouts. She fell to 16-3 on the season.
Taran Alvelo (15-1) picked up the win for the second straight night. She pitched two scoreless innings of relief of Gabbie Plain, who allowed three runs on seven hits in six innings in the start.
Washington (31-2, 3-2 Pac-12) jumped on Denham in the first. The first four Huskies reached and scored twice to take the early 2-0 lead.Â
After being one-hit through four innings, Arizona notched back-to-back singles to start both the fifth and sixth innings. UA cashed in in the sixth.
