TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona gymnastics welcomes UNC, Air Force, and San Jose St. on Friday, March 9 at 6:30 p.m. for a quad meet in McKale Center. The Cats are fresh off of two season high scores (bars – 49.375; beam – 49.525) against Arkansas on March 2.
"Last weekend was our best performance in terms of the goals we set forth for each meet," said head coach
John Court. "It's the type of meet that you build off of and we are looking forward to this Friday's match up in McKale."
Arizona Quad Meet:
The Cats prepare to face off against University of North Carolina, Air Force, and San Jose State on Friday March 9 in McKale Center at 6:30 p.m. MST. Arizona is currently ranked No. 34 in the NCAA, UNC is No. 37, San Jose State comes in at No. 50, and Air Force is ranked No. 54.
Last Week:
On Friday, March 2 Arizona traveled to Fayetteville to compete against No. 10 Arkansas. The Cats lost with a final score of 196.125 to 197.275, but earned new season high event scores on both bars and beam. The GymCats posted a 49.375 on bars, led by a 9.925 from
Christina Berg and a 9.875 from
Madison Cindric. The Cats also earned a 49.525 on beam, their highest beam score in school history (previously a 49.500 set in 2003).
Coming Up:
The Cats will travel to LSU on Saturday, March 17 to compete in Pete Maravich Center at 5 p.m. MST. LSU is currently ranked No. 2 in the NCAA, and they are 14-1 in regular season competition (losing only to No. 3 UCLA at the Metroplex Challenge on Jan. 27) and 5-0 at home. They have a season high team score of 198.175 and average a 49.292 or higher on all four events.
Pac-12 Championships Come to Tucson:
For the first time in eight years, the Pac-12 Championships are returning to Tucson. Join the Wildcats as they host session 1 and 2 of the Pac-12 final competition in McKale Center on March 24th, 2018. All eight Pac 12 schools (UCLA, Utah, Oregon State, Arizona State, Stanford, Cal, Washington, and Arizona) will attend. Session 1 will begin at 1 p.m. MST and session 2 will begin at 6 p.m. MST. Tickets will be available for purchase starting on Feb. 12 through the Arizona ticketing office at (520) 621-CATS.
