TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona women's golfer
Bianca Pagdanganan fired a final round 66 to capture a bronze medal while helping the Philippines claim a gold medal in the team competition at the 2018 Asian Games at Pondok Indah Golf and Country Club in Jakarta.
Pagdanganan's final round charge produced a 6-under 66, putting her in a playoff for the bronze medal. She outlasted Japan's Ayaka Furue in the playoff to earn the bronze.
The impressive score also helped the Philippines overcome a large deficit. The Philippines started the final round two off second placed Korea and nine behind pacesetting China, but Pagdanganan and her teammate Yuka Saso each shot 66s to climb the team leaderboard and win the gold medal. Saso won the individual gold.
Pagdanganan's Arizona teammate
Yu-Sang Hou also competed, helping Chinese Taipei to a seventh-place finish in the team event. She finished 27th individually.
