TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona women's soccer team defeated the Cal State Fullerton Titans by a score of 2-1 on Friday night in Tucson, Ariz.
After a cross from
Amanda Porter,
Jill Aguilera broke the 0-0 tie in the 56th minute, launching the ball into the back right corner of the net. Two minutes later,
Hallie Pearson drifted a ball over Fullerton's last defender, to find
Jada Talley, who beat the Titan keeper to make it 2-0 Cats. Fullerton responded with a goal by Samantha McKenna in the 70th minute, but Arizona came away with the 2-1 victory.
"We feel good overall", said head coach
Tony Amato. "We are always looking to improve and get better, so I am sure we will go through the film and pick out things that we have to get better at, especially as we go into the Pac. We have a lot of things from the beginning of the season to now that have to keep improving on and tackle."
Next up, Arizona will face Stanford on Friday, Sept. 21st, at 8 PM PST in Palo Alto, Calif. for their first conference match of the season.
