Arizona Athletics to Host Hispanic Heritage Night

Arizona Football's Sept. 29 game versus USC will see plenty of festivities around Arizona Stadium.

TUCSON, Ariz. – National Hispanic Heritage Month is Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, and Arizona Athletics will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Night at its football game versus USC on Saturday, Sept. 29. Special activities are planned for fans before and during the game.
 
"Tucson is our home. It has rich and unique cultural diversity that makes it a very special place to live, visit, and experience," said Vice President/Director of Athletics Dave Heeke. "Events like Hispanic Heritage Night give us the opportunity to celebrate a part of our very special identity in Southern Arizona. This event gives our University a stage to recognize and identify the importance of Hispanic culture in our community. We welcome all of our fans, supporters and alumni to our beautiful campus at the University of Arizona on Saturday, Sept. 29 as our football team takes on USC and as we recognize an important part of our campus and community experience."
 
Arizona Athletics is teaming up with the UA Alumni Association, the UA Hispanic Alumni Club, and the UA Government and Community Relations to host a special pregame tailgate next to the Coca-Cola Fan Fiesta. The tailgate is 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., located just west of Cherry and University and is open to the public. Tickets include access to a buffet from El Charro and a Hispanic Heritage Night fan. A cash bar will be available for soda, beer and wine with a program set to begin at 5:30 p.m. The scheduled speakers include UA President Dr. Robert Robbins and Vice President and Director of Athletics Dave Heeke. Tailgate tickets are $15 while supplies last with tailgate and football ticket combo packages also available. Tailgate related tickets can be purchased online at www.arizonaalumni.com/heritagedaytailgate.  
 
The Coca-Cola Fan Fiesta will provide a plethora of Hispanic entertainment and culture when it officially opens at 3:30 p.m. In partnership with Spanish media partners, Univision AZ, UniMas AZ, KCMT La Caliente, and La Buena 94.3. Saturday's entertainment lineup includes live bands, a DJ, and dancers. Local artists, Luis and Athenia Mena, will have their work on display as well.

Fans entering Arizona Stadium near gates 3, 6, 7, and 8 will be serenaded with mariachis from 6:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and notice decorations on the concourse. Arizona Athletics has teamed up with local musician, DJ Herm, to provide music for game day, including more Latino music for the 2018 season. The annual Hispanic Heritage Night halftime show will continue to feature a performance by the Pride of Arizona marching band with mariachis and folklorico dancers. The Wildcats will also be recognized as "Los Gatos" on the scoreboard.
 
Football tickets for the Sept. 29 football game as still available. Ticket prices start at $15 for adults and $7 for kids (ages 3-12). Tickets can be purchased at the McKale Ticket Office, by calling 520-621-CATS, or online at ArizonaWildcats.com/FB.
