TUCSON, Ariz. — Former Arizona Wildcat baseball standout Bobby Dalbec, a member of the Cats 2016 College World Series squad, has been selected as a member of USA Baseball's 2019 Professional National Team and Premier12 roster.
The Premier12 team — which is made up of 28 players not currently on a Major League Baseball 40-man roster — will compete in the WSBC Premier12 tournament in November with the opportunity to qualify USA Baseball for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
As part of their training for the Premier12, Dalbec and USA Baseball will face Arizona in an exhibition game at Hi Corbett Field on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 6:00 p.m. MST. Tickets for the game are available now, and can be purchased HERE. It will be the first opportunity for fans to see the 2020 Wildcats baseball roster in action and a homecoming for Dalbec, who last played at Hi Corbett in May 2016.
Dalbec played three seasons at Arizona from 2014-16, where he was a two-way star as a pitcher and third baseman. Across 72 pitching appearances and 174 games at the plate, Dalbec posted a 2.65 ERA with 14 saves while also hitting .282 with 34 doubles, 24 home runs, and 123 RBI. As a sophomore in 2015 he led the Pac-12 with 15 home runs and a .601 slugging percentage, while ranking second on the circuit with 53 RBI.
He was a Freshman All-American in 2014, an All-American in 2015, a two-time member of the All-Pac-12 First Team, and a two-time semifinalist for the John Olerud Award. The Red Sox selected Dalbec in the fourth round of the 2016 MLB Draft following his career in Tucson.
During the 2019 season, his third full professional campaign, Dalbec combined to hit 27 home runs with 73 RBI while posting a .356 on-base percentage across time with Double-A Portland and Triple-A Pawtucket in the Red Sox farm system. It marked his third straight season with 25+ home runs. He is currently ranked as the No. 2 prospect in the Boston organization by MLB Pipeline.
Tickets for both Arizona home fall ball games against Team USA and Cal Poly Pomona are available now and can be purchased HERE. 2019 Arizona baseball season ticket holders will receive complimentary tickets to both games, which were distributed via email on Oct. 14.
