TUCSON – Arizona junior placekicker
Lucas Havrisik has been named the Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
It's the second time in his career Havrisik has earned this honor. Havrisik also won Pac-12 Player of the Week in 2017 after hitting a 57-yard field goal against Washington State.
Havrisik shined on Saturday to win the award for a second time. Havrisik was 2 of 2 on field goals, hitting from 50 and 31 yards. He also hit a 53-yard field goal earlier this year against Hawai'i, and is one of only nine kickers nationally with two makes from 50 yards and out. Havrisik has made four field goals from 40 and out, which is tied for fourth-most nationally.
The junior from Riverside, California is the first Arizona kicker to have two makes from 50 yards and out since Matthew Peyton in 1996. His four career makes from 50 and out are as many as Arizona had as a program from 1997 to 2016.
Also on Saturday against Washington, Havrisik was a perfect 5 of 5 on touchbacks. He also connected on all three of his extra point attempts against the Huskies.
For the season, Havrisik has a touchback percentage of 84.21, which is fifth in the country. He has 32 touchbacks, which is the sixth-best total nationally.
Havrisik is the second Arizona player to be recognized by the Pac-12 this season. True freshman quarterback
Grant Gunnell won Pac-12 Freshman of the Week after the UCLA game.
