Albuquerque, N.M. – The Cats opened day one of the New Mexico Classic grabbing eight PRs. Leading the Cats was sophomore Makims Sincukovs, who set the No. 11 600-Meter run mark in the world.
600-Meters Deep
Sincukovs led a 600-meter dash group that clocked three PRs. Sincukovs took second overall with a time of 1:17.52 to set a new PR, putting him at the No. 11 spot on the IAAF World list. Freshman
James Smith registered a time of 1:18.36 to finish third and set a new PR.
Tanner Hagstrom finished fifth in 1:20.93, Andy Buchanon followed with a time of 1:21.23.
Gustavs Kehris ran a time of 1:22.09 to set a new PR. On the ladies side,
Shannon Meisberger finished first overall with a time of 1:32.31 to set a new PR.
April Sutton finished second in her heat with a mark of 1:35.10 to set a new PR.
How About Howard?
Neysia Howard notched a PR in the ladies long jump, propelling herself 5.84m (19-2) to finish second in the contest. The freshman also clocked a time of 24.36 in the 200-meter dash to win her heat.
Cats Can Jump
In the men's high jump,
Justice Summerset and
Justin Lewis took the top two spots in the contest. The duo cleared 2.07m (6-09.50), with Summerset winning the jump-off. On the ladies side,
Lillian Lowe cleared 1.79m (5-10.50) to finish second in the contest.
Karla Teran registered a mark of 1.75m (5-08.75) to take fourth. Alexa Propaczy took fifth with a clearance of 1.71m (5-07.25).
The Cats resume action at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic tomorrow at 10 a.m. MST.
