Arizona Wildcats baseball recognized the jersey of former player and National Baseball Hall of Famer,
Trevor Hoffman, prior to their Opening Night game on February 15, 2019. Hoffman's was the second jersey officially recognized by the program, joining
Terry Francona.
Before heading out to Hi Corbett field for the evening's festivities, Hoffman toured campus and hosted a Q&A with the U of A Sports Marketing Association.
Next up was a journey over to Hi Corbett to speak with the team. The opportunity for Wildcat athletes to listen to and learn from a Hall of Fame player, one of the two best closers in the history of baseball, was invaluable.
Prior to the celebration, Hoffman took the time to speak with local media and sign autographs for fans.
Hoffman entered the field to his signature warm-up song,
Hells Bells by AC/DC, to kick off the special pregame ceremony.
Even the San Diego Padres, his former team and the logo on his cap in Cooperstown, got in on the fun!
It was a memorable night for all involved, and a perfect way to kick off the 2019 season that would open with a 12-4 Wildcats victory over the UMass Lowell River Hawks. Thanks for joining us, Trevor!
