Arizona Earns First Pac-12 Sweep, Beats Colorado 63-51

TUCSON, Ariz. – For the first time since the 2010-11 season, the Arizona Wildcats (17-8, 7-7 Pac-12) earned a Pac-12 weekend sweep after taking down the Colorado Buffaloes (11-14, 1-13 Pac-12) by a score of 63-51 in McKale Center on Sunday.

Cate Reese led all scorers with 17 points and finished just one rebound shy of a double-double. Aari McDonald stuffed the stat sheet scoring 13 points to go with nine assists, eight rebounds and four steals. For the first time this season, McDonald didn't score at least 15 points.

Dominique McBryde scored a season-high 13 points on the night and made all five of her shots, including both three-point attempts. Sam Thomas was a monster on the defensive end, recording her second-straight four-block game. Thomas also finished the game with eight points and seven rebounds.

As a team, Arizona forced the Buffs to shoot 30.6% from the field and created 18 turnovers. The Wildcats also moved to 12-0 when winning the rebounding battle.

Arizona got out to an 18-12 lead at the end of the first quarter and would extend that lead to nine heading into halftime. Seven Wildcats would score in the first half as Reese led the way with nine points. Arizona did a great job on the defensive end, holding the Buffs to 25 points and 31% shooting in the first half.

UA would make it an 11-point lead heading into the fourth quarter after outscoring the Buffs 16-14 in the third quarter and would wrap things up on the defensive end in the fourth to earn their 17th win of the season, the most since the 2010-11 season.

Arizona will hit the road for the final conference road trip next weekend to face the Bay Area schools. First up will be Stanford on Friday, Feb. 22 at 8 p.m. MST.
