PALOS VERDES, Calif. --The Arizona women's golf team finished a rainy first day of competition in 7th place at 18-over. UCLA leads after day one with a team score of 7-over.
Sophomore
Yu-Sang Hou had the best round of the day for the Cats, shooting a 1-over 72, good for a tie for eighth. Senior
Haley Moore birdied her last two holes to post a first-round 73, and currently resides in a tie for 11th. Junior
Sandra Nordaas recorded 13 pars and five bogeys to shoot a 76. Senior
Bianca Pagdanganan and freshman
Ya Chun Chang both shot 81 to round out the team.
Hou eagled the par-4 6th hole, the only eagle of the day for the entire field. She continues her strong play after winning the Pac-12 Preview to end the fall season.
"Really proud of the ladies, they fought hard through some extremely difficult conditions," said head coach
Laura Ianello. "
Yu-Sang Hou and
Haley Moore both played really well for us. We'll definitely move up the leaderboard on the next day."
Round two will begin tomorrow at 10 a.m. MST.
