LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Arizona senior pitcher
Taylor McQuillin was named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week this week after her dominant performance at the Wildcat Invitational.
McQuillin went 4-0 in the event, throwing two shutouts in Arizona's six-game sweep of the event. She posted a 1.44 ERA and struck out 34 batters in 25 innings. The senior picked up a pair of wins vs. ranked teams in the event, shutting out No. 23 Minnesota on Saturday in a 2-0 Arizona victory, and defeating 19th-ranked James Madison in an extra-inning thriller on Sunday.
McQuillin appeared in five of the six games in the weekend, picking up four wins and one save. She earned complete-game victories in the three starts she made, including shutouts vs. Drake and No. 23 Minnesota, and appeared in two games out of the bullpen, picking up a save vs. Drake and earning the victory in relief vs. Kent State.
McQuillin began the weekend with a 10-strikeout, two-hit shutout of Drake. In UA's second game of the weekend, McQuillin pitched the final two innings in UA's second game vs. the Bulldogs, allowing one hit before striking out the final six batters of the game to earn her first save on the season.
On Saturday, McQuillin threw a two-hit shutout of No. 23 Minnesota, striking out 10 Golden Gophers without a walk in the process. It was McQuillin's second shutout of a ranked team this year and makred her fourth shutout in her last five starts. She was back to work just hours later in UA's second game of the day, pitching a perfect eighth inning and earning the victory in UA's win over Kent State.
The senior finished off her weekend with an eight-inning win over James Madison.
On the season, McQuillin is 7-4 with a 1.80 ERA and leads the Pac-12 with 94 strikeouts in 75 innings.
The award is McQuillin's fifth ever weekly honor (3 pitchers of the week, 2 freshmen of the week) and first since last year's Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic (week 3). She is the first Wildcat to be honored in 2019 and the

McQuillin and the Cats will take on New Mexico State in a doubleheader in Las Cruces on Tuesday before returning home to host defending national champion and top-ranked Florida State in Hillenbrand Stadium, Friday-Sunday.
