Tucson, Ariz.. – On Friday, April 12th, the throws squad will begin competition at the Triton Invitational in La Jolla, Calif. The two-day contest will begin with Jordan Spradlin throwing the discus at 1:30 p.m. MST.

Last Time Out: The Cats hosted in the Jim Click Shootout at Roy P. Drachman Stadium. Highlighting the event was Jordan Geist, James Smith and Carlos Villarreal. Geist won three events, setting a school record in the shot put. Smith clocked the Arizona Freshman 400-meter hurdle record in 50.29. Villarreal clocked the No. 3 800-meter run time in the NCAA in 1:47.54.
 
The Knochness Monster: The reigning USTFCCCA Male Athlete of the Week and Pac-12 Men's Field Athlete of the Week, Jordan Geist, will compete in the shot put, discus and hammer throws in La Jolla. Last weekend, he went undefeated in all three events, setting an Arizona shot put school record with a toss of 21.28m (69-9.75). Geist's shot put mark is the No. 1 mark on the NCAA list, Pac-12 Conference and is the No. 4 toss in the world this season. He PR'd in the hammer throw with a mark of 67.40m (221-1) to set the No. 4 mark in the Arizona record book.
 
Hammer Time: Geist, along with Grayson Fleming and Cody Dalton will compete in the hammer throw this weekend. Fleming ranks fifth in the Pac-12 Conference with a toss of 64.76 (212-6) thrown at the Jim Click Shootout and Dalton ranks 13th with a mark of 56.64m (185-10).
