TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arizona Wildcats capped off a weekend sweep by beating Utah 4-0 at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center on Friday afternoon. Arizona has now won three-consecutive Pac-12 matches and are 17-4 on the season.

"Guys are making a routine of beating top 50 programs," head coach Clancy Shields said. "We knew Utah would be tough after beating #12 ranked Stanford last week. We were up for the challenge and happy to get a win. We wanted to send senior Jonas Maier off today with a great home victory. Glad we could deliver. Jonas has been such a big piece of this programs climb to national prominence. He is an irreplaceable player, captain, and human being that we will miss dearly."

Utah started off strong in doubles play by winning on court three, but the Cats rallied back to take the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. 

The lone senior Jonas Maier made quick work on court six winning in straight sets 6-0, 6-2. Carlos Hassey then also won in two straight sets 6-1, 6-4 on court five and it was No. 124 Filip Malbasic who put the finishing touch on the match with a 6-4, 6-3 win on court two. 

Filip Malbasic has now set the record for most wins in a season in Arizona history with 17 and counting with two regular season matches to go.

"Happy to see Filip achieve the most singles wins in a season in Arizona tennis history. Last week he tied the record and this week he broke it. Records are meant to be broken and now we will see how high he can set that bar. We still have more matches to play and I believe he can go much further."

Arizona finishes with a home record of 13-1, their best mark since the 2008-2009 season when the team finished 14-1. 

Next up for the Wildcats is USC on the road next Friday at 3:00 p.m. MST.
