Track & Field to Host Jim Click Multi-Events & Shootout

Tucson, Ariz.. – Beginning on Thursday, April 4th, the University of Arizona track and field program will play host to the Jim Click Multi-Events and Shootout at Roy P. Drachman Stadium. Dominic Gehr and Skylar Sieben will compete for the Cats in the multi-events on Thursday and Friday. The Cats will welcome USC, Purdue, Minnesota, TCU and Oklahoma State for the Shootout on Saturday.
At Last year's Jim Click Shootout, the men's squad won the team competition, amassing 171 points. The women's team took second with a total score of 125. Then freshman Jordan Geist scored 26 points towards the team competition, winning the shot put and placing second in the hammer throw and discus throw. Gest won the shot put with a mark of 19.26m (63-2.25) on his fifth throw of the day. He would go on to win Pac-12 Men's Field Athlete of the Week.

Last Time Out: A trio of Cats competed in the Stanford Invitational last weekend. Leading Arizona in Palo Alto was senior Bailey Roth, who clocked a season-best time of 8:40.69 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to set the No. 4 mark in the NCAA and Pac-12 Conference lead.
The Knochness Monster: Sophomore Jordan Geist is slated to compete in the shot put event for the first time this outdoor season. He is a three-time First Team All-American in the event and holds an outdoor best mark of 20.41m (66-11.5). He will also compete in the discus throw, an event in which he won the 2018 Pac-12 Championship and earned second team All-America honors.
Harvey's Hurdlers: Karolina Pahlitzsch and Maksims Sincukovs will open up in the 400-meter hurdles on Saturday. Sincukovs is the Arizona freshman record holder with a time of 50.49 clocked in the qualifying round at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. Pahlitzsch holds a best time of 57.88 set in the 2018 edition of the Jim Click Shootout. Newcomers James Smith and Shannon Meisberger will join the duo. Smith is the 2018 USATF Junior Olympic Champion in the event.
Franchise Elite: Three Cats who hold top-10 Arizona 400-meter dash marks will be back in action this week in the event. Tatum Waggoner holds the No. 2 mark with a time of 51.89 set at the 2019 Pac-12 Championships will compete this weekend. On the men's side, Umajesty Williams and Zakee Washington will toe the line on Saturday, both rank in Arizona's all time top-10 with Williams owning the Arizona Freshman Record with a time of 46.14 which ranks sixth all time. Washington is 10th on Arizona's all time list in 46.38 set this year at the 2019 Willie Williams Classic.
Young & Multi-Talented: Freshman Skylar Sieben and sophomore Dominic Gehr will compete in their first multi of the year beginning on Thursday. Sieben placed fourth in the 2019 MPSF Championships pentathlon with 3755 points. Gehr holds a PR of 6,709 in the decathlon set in the 2018 Jim Click Combined Events to finish second.
