CORVALLIS, Ore. – Five GymCats represented Arizona in Round 2 of the NCAA Corvallis Regionals Friday, April 5.
Maddi Leydin,
Christina Berg, and
Haylie Hendrickson competed in Session 1 and
Heather Swanson and
Danielle Spencer competed in Session 2.
"Our athletes had an excellent day in Round 2 of NCAA's," commented head coach
John Court. "We had four athletes score a 9.85 in Session 1 and Maddi tied for first in vault in her session and fourth overall. Heather did a very dynamic vault and it was nice to see Dani and Haylie go out with hits for their last collegiate routines."
Berg Competed on Bars and Floor
Junior
Christina Berg competed as an individual competitor on the uneven bars and floor. Berg posted a 9.850 on bars and floor. This season, Berg scored a career-high 9.975 at a quad meet with Texas Women's, Centenary, and Air Force and against LSU. She has scored above 9.850 in ten meets during the season. She was named Second Team All-American and Second Team All-Pac-12 this season on the uneven bars for her outstanding work on bars. Berg will return for her final season as a GymCat next year.
Leydin Shined on Vault
Junior
Maddi Leydin competed on vault and earned a 9.850. She ended Session 1 of Round 2 in a four-way tie for first place and finished Round 2 in a four-way tie for fourth place. Leydin has earned above 9.800 six times this season, earning her career-high of 9.900 at a quad meet with North Carolina State, George Washington, and Texas Women's. She will return as a senior for Arizona next season.

Hendrickson Closed Session 1 on Beam
Senior
Haylie Hendrickson competed on the balance beam and earned a 9.850. She has posted a score of 9.800 or better in eleven meets this season, earning her career-high 9.875 during the final home meet of her GymCat career against LSU. This was Hendrickson's final competition with Arizona and after today, she will be considered an Arizona gymnastics alumna.
Spencer Opened Session 2 on Bars
Senior
Danielle Spencer competed on the uneven bars and earned a 9.775. She has earned a score of 9.800 or better in nine meets this year. Spencer earned her career-high score of 9.900 in two meets this season against California and during Session 1 of the 2019 NCAA Corvallis Regionals. This was Spencer's last competition as a GymCat, and she will now be considered an Arizona gymnastics alumna.
Swanson Competed on Vault to End Round 2
Junior
Heather Swanson competed on vault and earned a 9.750. Swanson has scored above 9.800 in seven meets during this season, earning her season-high 9.850 on vault at the 2019 Pac-12 Gymnastics Championships. She will return to Arizona Gymnastics next year for her senior season.
