Clancy Shields has signed for the 2019-20 season consists of Nick Lagaev, Hiroki Sakagawa, and Jack Ninteman
Lagaev, who was born in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada, is tabbed as the No. 257 junior player in the world, and has been ranked as high as No. 2 in the Canadian Junior Rankings. Lagaev has a career high UTR Rating of 13.09 and has been a runner-up in both the indoor and outdoor Canadian National Championships.
Sakagawa, who has a career high UTR Rating of 13.28 and reached an ITF Junior ranking of 185, will head to Tucson from Inzai, Chiba, Japan. He has been a three-time national runner-up and two-time national doubles champion in his home country of Japan. He will be the third Japanese player to compete for the University of Arizona in the past five years.
Ninteman, who hails from Tualatin, Ore., comes in as the No. 2 player from Oregon, the No. 245 player in the country and has a UTR Rating of 11. Ninteman, who played his high school tennis at Lakeridge High School, comes to Tucson as a 3-star recruit.
