
Student-Athletes of the Month Named for June

TUCSON, Ariz. – Football's Khalil Tate, Men's Golf's Langly Guan, Beach Volleyball's Jonny Baham and Women's Basketball's Bryce Nixon have been honored as the student-athletes of the month for June.
These students have been honored for their commitment to earning their undergraduate degree, the ability to maximize their academic potential, and their dedication to academic improvement and growth.
These students have been chosen by the C.A.T.S Academic staff.
Tate is a rising senior from Inglewood, California, who has consistently put forth great effort on the field and in the classroom. Tate is majoring in Information Science and eSociety, while earning a minor in communication. On top of all this, Tate has worked his way up to 6th all time in passing touchdowns at Arizona, along with being named to the Maxwell Award (College Football Player of the Year) watch list for this upcoming season.
"Khalil is a rising senior who has consistently achieved success academically throughout his time as a student-athlete," academic counselor Andy Salgado said. "His consistent effort continues to pay off as he is scheduled to earn his degree this December."
Guan is a rising Junior from Guangzhou, China, who is majoring in Sports and Society.
"Langly Guan just finished his sophomore year at the U of A and has the highest Men's Golf GPA for 2018-19," said academic counselor Jennifer Mewes. "Originally from China, Langly made a successful transition to the U of A and has continued to excel in both academics and golf."
Baham recently finished up her sophomore year. She teamed with Brooke Burling to go 22-7 this year for Coach Steve Walker's squad.
"Jonny Baham is a rising junior Beach Volleyball athlete from Carlsbad, California. She is a Neuroscience and Cognitive Science major that has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA during her entire time as a wildcat," academic counselor Corey Talley said. "She has been a model student for her teammates and other students across campus. Very well deserved!"
Nixon, a rising sophomore from Phoenix, Arizona, played in 33 games as a freshman while maintaining academic excellence throughout the entire year. Nixon is majoring in Social, Behavioral and Human Understanding, and is setting up to have a strong sophomore campaign.
"Bryce Nixon is a rising Sophomore who had an outstanding first year. She was able to help her team win the WNIT and maintain a 4.0 GPA," said academic counselor Sarah Barber. "I have been very impressed with her hard work and dedication to both her academics and basketball."
