Jennie Baragar-Petrash and Shem Kemboi Take First and Second in Dave Murray Invitational

TUCSON, Ariz. – Jennie Baragar-Petrash finished first and Shem Kemboi took second on Friday evening at the Dave Murray Invitational, Arizona's last home cross country meet of the 2019 season.

On the men's side, the Wildcats placed three in the top 10, which included Kemboi, Turlan Morlan, and Connor McCabe.

On the women's side, the Wildcats claimed five of the top 10 finishers to win the meet. Those runners include Baragar-Petrash, Bailey Johnson, Lauren Neugeboren, Alaina Kautz, and Keelah Barger. This was Baragar-Petrash's first time winning a cross country race in her four years running for Arizona.

"It was an improvement for us, in both men's and women's races," said head cross country coach James Li, "For the women, Jennie was a great addition. She has been a really good, solid runner. The men ran well, too. I'm just really happy to see the improvement."

The Arizona Wildcats will be back in action in three weeks on October 4 as they will travel to South Bend, Indiana for the Notre Dame Joe Piane Cross Country Invitational.
